Sunbeam 1000HP update July 2025
Trevor had the privilege of spending time at Beaulieu for a VIP evening to celebrate the completion of the front engine of the 1000HP that is currently undergoing a full restoration. The team are preparing for a return to Daytona Beach in 2027, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its world record achievement, and of being the first car ever to reach 200mph!
Trevor joined over thirty specially invited guests who have either worked on the engine, supplied parts, or supported the project financially.
As well as the first engine being completed, the team at Beaulieu have made huge progress with the rest of the car including the gearbox, drive train , brakes, wheels & tyres as well the subframe being tested and certified.
Next step will be to remount the engine in the car ready for the International Auto Jumble in September.
This image shows what Castrol R looks like after 80 years in the sump. The team commented that although it has been a major effort to remove, it saved many of the components of the engine.
